Terms of Service
Spur · Last updated: 12 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Spur App Ltd, a company
registered in England and Wales (company number 17431182, registered office
66 Paul Street, London, England, United Kingdom, EC2A 4NA) — "Spur", "we", "us". They govern your use of the Spur
mobile app and anything we provide through it.
By creating an account or using Spur, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use
the app. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data and forms part of
these terms.
Who can use Spur
You must be 18 or over to use Spur. Spur recommends venues and activities including, in some cases, bars,
clubs and other licensed premises, and we do not operate the app as a service directed at or intended for
children. By using Spur you confirm you are 18 or over. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under
18, we will close it.
You must also be able to enter a binding contract, and not be barred from using the app under the laws of
the country you are in.
Your account
- You can browse Spur without an account. Some features require you to register with an email address and
a password.
- Keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account unless it results
from something we did wrong.
- Give us an email address you actually control. We may send you a verification email, and we use your
email address to let you reset your password — if the address is wrong, we may not be able to give you
access to your account.
- One account per person. Do not create multiple accounts to obtain repeated free allowances or
promotional credit.
- You can delete your account at any time from within the app. What we keep afterwards, and why, is set
out in the Privacy Policy. Deleting your account does not cancel a Spur+
subscription: cancel that in your Apple Account settings first.
What Spur is — and what it is not
Spur suggests places to go and things to do, based on the vibe, time, budget and other context you give it.
Suggestions are generated automatically. We want to be straightforward about the limits of that:
- We do not operate, own, inspect, endorse or vet any venue we suggest. Venues are
independent third parties. Your visit to a venue is a matter between you and that venue.
- Venue information can be wrong or out of date. Opening hours, prices, availability,
ratings, travel times, accessibility and whether a place is currently open all come from third-party
sources or are estimated. They change, and we cannot guarantee any of it is accurate at the moment you
arrive. Check with the venue before relying on anything important.
- Descriptions are generated by AI and may be inaccurate. Spur uses large language models
to help select venues and write the titles, summaries and tips you see. That text reflects the model's
general knowledge of a place, not a current inspection of it, and it can be mistaken, outdated or
incomplete. Treat it as a suggestion to look into, not a statement of fact.
- Dietary and similar filters are best-effort. Where you tell us about dietary
requirements — for example halal or kosher — we use that to shape what we suggest. We cannot verify a
venue's practices, certification, ingredients or preparation. If a requirement matters to you for
religious, medical or allergy reasons, confirm it directly with the venue every time. Never rely on Spur
for this.
- Travel times and distances are estimates produced by our own models and third-party
data. They are not directions and should not be used for navigation.
Your safety
Spur suggests going to physical places, sometimes at night, sometimes somewhere you have not been before.
You are responsible for your own safety and for your own decisions about where to go, when, how to get there
and who with. Use your judgement as you would with any recommendation from any source.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence — see
Our responsibility to you below.
Acceptable use
Please do not:
- use Spur for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten or harm anyone;
- attempt to access accounts, data or parts of our systems you are not entitled to;
- scrape, bulk-extract, resell or redistribute the recommendations, venue data or written content Spur
produces, or use them to train a machine-learning model;
- reverse engineer the app, or interfere with, overload or disrupt the service or the infrastructure
behind it;
- use automated means to make requests, or otherwise use the service in a way that is not the ordinary use
of a consumer app;
- misrepresent who you are, or use someone else's account.
Content you provide
You may give us content — feedback, ratings, saved places, reports about a venue, messages to support. You
keep ownership of it. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, copy and
adapt that content so far as we need to in order to run and improve Spur, including in anonymised or
aggregated form. This licence continues for anonymised or aggregated material after you delete your account,
because it can no longer be separated out and no longer identifies you.
Only provide content you have the right to provide. Do not submit anything unlawful, defamatory or
deliberately false about a venue or a person. We may remove content and, where it is serious or repeated,
suspend the account behind it.
Paid features
Spur is free to use within an allowance. You can pay for more with Spur+, a subscription, or with a Tonight
Pass, a one-off purchase. Nothing charges you unless you choose to buy it.
Allowances
- Spur counts new searches: a search with a new brief or from a new spot. Asking for
something else on the same brief is a refresh, which has its own, larger allowance. A search
that finds fewer than two suggestions usually does not count.
- At the date of these terms you get 3 new searches a day without an account, 5 a day with a free account,
and 30 a day with Spur+. A Tonight Pass adds 10 new searches and 50 refreshes for one night (see below). The
app shows what you have left.
- We sometimes try different free allowances to find what works best. You may get a weekly allowance instead
of a daily one: for example, 3 new searches in total before making an account, then 3 a day for a new
account's first week and 3 a week after that. Whichever applies to you, the app shows what you have and when
more come back.
- A Spur day ends at 4am London time, when daily allowances reset. A weekly allowance counts the last 7 Spur
days. Unused searches do not carry over.
- At very busy times we may pause new searches for guests and free accounts for a while, so that Spur keeps
working for everyone. Refreshes keep working, and Spur+ members and pass holders get priority.
Spur+
- Spur+ is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. The price, the length of the period and what
is included are shown before you buy. Prices include VAT.
- Apple takes payment from your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews
automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the
period ends.
- You can cancel at any time in your Apple Account settings (Settings → your name →
Subscriptions). You keep Spur+ until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app or your
Spur account does not cancel the subscription.
- Spur+ is linked to the Spur account you are signed in to when you buy it, so you need an account to buy
it. On a new device, sign in and tap Restore.
- Spur+ is a fair-use allowance, not unlimited use, and it is for your own personal use. Please do not
share your account.
- If the price of Spur+ changes, Apple will tell you before the new price applies, and you can cancel
before then.
Tonight Pass
- A Tonight Pass is a one-off purchase. It does not renew and you are not charged again. The price and what
it includes are shown before you buy. Prices include VAT.
- At the date of these terms it adds 10 new searches and 50 refreshes to your free allowance. It starts when
you buy it and ends at the next 4am London time, or 6 hours after you buy it if that is later.
- Your free searches are used first, then the pass's. Searches from a pass do not count toward a weekly
allowance. Anything left on the pass when it ends does not carry over.
- If you buy another pass while one is still running, what is left of the first is added to the new one, and
the new one ends at the later of the two end times.
- You need a free Spur account to buy a pass. It is linked to the account you are signed in to when you buy
it, so it works on any device where you sign in to that account.
- A pass starts as soon as you buy it, so it cannot be paused or moved to another night. By buying one you
ask us to start it straight away, and you accept that once it has started you lose the 14-day right to
cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Your other rights, including if the pass does not
work as described, are unaffected.
Refunds and your rights
- Purchases are made through the Apple App Store under Apple's terms. Apple handles billing, renewals and
refunds, and we cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves. To ask for one, go to
reportaproblem.apple.com. If something has gone wrong on our
side, tell us at support@spurapp.co.uk as well and we will
help.
- Your statutory rights as a consumer, including any right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts
Regulations 2013 and your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, are unaffected.
Changes to allowances and prices
We may change allowances, plans and prices as Spur develops, for example if our costs change. If a change
reduces what Spur+ gives you, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect,
and you can cancel before then. If you are part-way through a period you have already paid for and the change
significantly reduces what you get, contact us and we will refund the unused part.
Free allowances, invites and rewards
Free allowances, invites, referral rewards, trial credit and promotional balances have no cash value, are
personal to you, cannot be sold or transferred, and can be withdrawn or changed. When we run a waitlist,
invite or referral scheme, we will publish its rules when it starts. We may cancel anything obtained by
creating multiple accounts, fake referrals or any other circumvention.
The app itself
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Spur on devices you own or control, for
your own non-commercial use. We keep all rights in the app, its content and its branding that we do not
expressly give you here.
Spur is distributed through the Apple App Store and your use is also subject to Apple's terms. Apple is not
a party to this agreement, has no obligation to provide support for Spur, and is not responsible for the app
or for any claim you may have relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of
these terms and may enforce them against you.
Availability and changes to the service
We are a small team and Spur is offered as-is, as it develops. We do not promise the app will be available
without interruption, that it will be error-free, or that any particular feature, venue or recommendation will
continue to be available. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we may stop offering the service
altogether — if we withdraw it entirely we will give reasonable notice where we can, and refund the unused
part of any Spur+ period or pass you have paid for.
Spur depends on third-party services — Google, Apple, OpenAI, Ticketmaster, Transport for London and others
— and on your device and connection. Problems in any of those can stop the app working.
Suspending or ending your account
You can stop using Spur and delete your account at any time, for any reason.
We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we reasonably believe you are abusing the
service or its free allowances, or if we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell
you why and give you a chance to put it right first. If we close your account for a reason that is not your
fault, we will refund the unused part of any Spur+ period or pass you have paid for. We cannot cancel an App
Store subscription for you, so if your account is closed, cancel Spur+ in your Apple Account settings.
Our responsibility to you
Some things we cannot and do not exclude. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability
for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for
anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. Your statutory
rights as a consumer are not affected by anything here.
Subject to that:
- we are not responsible for what happens at a venue, for a venue's acts or omissions, or for a venue
being closed, full, different from its description, or unsuitable for you;
- we are not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you started using Spur, or for
loss arising from your use of the app for business purposes — Spur is supplied for personal use, and we
are not liable for lost profits, lost business or lost opportunity;
We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing
to use reasonable care and skill.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Spur changes. If a change materially affects your rights we will give you
reasonable notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Spur after a change takes
effect means you accept the updated terms; if you do not accept them, you can delete your account.
General
- If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to another company, for example
if our business is sold, provided your rights are not reduced.
- Only you and we can enforce these terms, except that Apple may enforce the provisions stated above.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have
jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts, and you
keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
